There are a few folks around here that pick up road kill and put them out in a large farm field for the eagles. Some my frown on it but it is better then the birds landing on the edges of the highway and getting hit when they are startled and launch in the wrong direction. Glad you were out to get the shot.

Hmmm, now that you've suggested that perhaps it was a deer that was hit on the road and dragged into the middle of the farmer's field. I had driven past there on Friday and didn't see it or the birds eating it.

I drove by yesterday morning again, saw the carnage and rapidly backed up as there were a murder of crows (always wanted to say that ) and 3 eagles chompin' on it. All the birds flew off when I backed up on the side of the highway but this one came back immediately and posed.
