i believe that may be the start of the rainy season there. you may want to check that and then pack appropriately. hope to make that trip someday. :)

Yes, rainy season...

Try getting some rain sleeves for your camera. You can buy some cheap plastic ones, fashion some yourself, or get something a little hardier from Kata. The E-702 fit my 40D+28-135 well, but your 100-400 might be too big for it. (If you're really interested, I can experiment with my 20D+70-200, to see if it fits).

Still, the 40D isn't weatherproof. The humidity in the rainforest was too much for it, but the cheap disposable kept firing. I might bring one as a backup.

Perhaps actually.

I went in September/October, so I suppose it was toward the end of the rainy season according to this (external link). You'll probably be okay...and I wouldn't worry about a little rain anyway :)

It's really strange, the native Costa Ricans don't carry umbrellas. Whenever it rains, they simply find cover and wait it out. And it can rain for hours....

I was looking at going there too, until my husband just recently decided he wants to join the Navy, maybe someday. I know I saw some awesome group or private tours that looked amazing. I know vrbo.com has awesome vacation rentals.
