Here's my best shot so far of our Brazilian Rainbow Boa, so named for the rainbow iridescence you can see on his scales at certain angles of illumination.

Nice! Had he recently shed as well? His colors really pop!

Thanks, yes he had just shed. That's why I was keen to get a shot, with the colours so lovely.

That's a great shot! This snake is lovely!

I'd love a snake, but my husband is afraid of them. :(

It's really my wife's snake - here's her response to your post:

Hi Mil-dot. He isn't nippy at all. I bought him as a yearling and he is extremely placid. He's never struck and only hisses if disturbed when in shed. At the moment he lives in a large RUB (Really Useful Box) on a mixture of eco-earth and sphagnum moss and a large open water dish to maintain the humidity these guys like.

He'll be moving to a vivarium later this year :)

Glad you like him!

Fantastic shot! The iridescence is almost surreal. How would you compare what the lens sees vs. what you see in person. Does one kind of light make this more pronounced than another?

I suppose the direct flash has brought out the colouring, but he can often look like this to the eye.
