hi,considering buying an external flash.Whats the third party manufactors compared to Canon?

There's a bunch of them. vivitar, metz, sigma, YN, Digital concepts.

What's your budget?

For ETTL (auto), Canon 430exII or 580exII if you can push it.

For manual, Yongnuo YN460 or LumoPro LP120 if you can push it.

The Nissin flashes are also getting decent reviews. If you are getting it for on camera use get an ettl flash.
