Hi Guys,

I have been having some problems taking shots indoor for events such as weddings, parties etc.

The issue:
When I take indoor shots, I notice that SOME of my shots are not as clear. When zooming in, I dont get the same sharpness as I do with some of other pictures. For example, I notice that my close up shots come out much better and sharper. If a regular person looks at the shot, they wouldnt notice the quality, however when zoomed or blown up, you can tell that its a bit blurry, and the image is not as sharp.

No issues with the outdoor pictures. No problem with studio pictures (obviously I have studio lights, so it wouldnt be an issue there)

I have tried both the manual and auto settings. I assume I dont get enough light and the reason for the bad images, but that doesn't explain that similar shots with similar lights come out perfect.

My camera is the 50D
Lens I used: 70-200 / 2.8
Flash 580EX

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Note, MODS I posted this in the parent forum, please remove that one as I made a mistake on where I have posted the question. Sorry

ISO noise can lower the apparent sharpness.
Also, were you using fast enough shutter speeds to eliminate the effects of hand shake or be able to stop subject motion?

Post a sample up with EXIF information.

As Nicksan has suggested, the only way to really tell is to post some images up (preferably with exif intact) to let us see what is happening.

Other than that its virtually impossible to comment.

Thank you for the responses. I am currently at work, when I get home I will post some samples.

I have been doing some reading, and I think its noise levels that is killing my shots, but I will leave it up to the experts to guide me.

I will be home later this evening and will post some images to show the difference.

Thanks
