After weeks of stressing over the 5D Mark II, 7D, or the 1D Mark III I decided to go with the 5D Mark II.

I'll keep my 50D for sports shots and use the 5D for portraits. I had a lot of sleepless nights:confused: but the statements about the IQ and seeing the pics threads pushed me over for the 5D Mark II. Now if Thursday will just hurry up and get here.

Thanks to all who offered their input on which direction they thought was best.

You made a great choice. I stepped up to the 5d-2 from a 40D and seen the difference from the first shot it took. Its a great camera, and the ability to shoot with fast glass at night time hand held with nicer images then ever came out of my 40D, is priceless. Enjoy it..

Another good option is the 5DII and sell the 50D for a 1DII for sports.

Enjoy the camera, and don't stress so much in the future, you really can't go wrong either way =P

Such a contrast to all of those so quick to point out the 5DMKIIs faults.

Congrats on the new 5DMKII purchases everyone! I don't think you can find a better camera & such an awesome system of lens' for a better price.

I have been pacing back and forth myself, trying to decide between the 5D mark II and the 1D mark 4. Such a difference in price. I love the IQ of the 5D (except the banding) and all the other features of the 1D mk 4, would consider the 1D 3, but since I shoot my family (kids sports) often I would like to have the video feature & faster AF with my next body purchase. What a tough decision.

I wish Canon would come out with a FF with a frame rate between the to bodies along with pro weather sealing.

I'll be leaving for Beaver Creek Co. for some skiing soon and always take a camera some days and other days take a video cam. I would love to have both in one. But weather sealing is a concern. Though I have had my 30 & 40D's covered in snow several times without incident.

Not sure how tough it would be skiing with a 1 series in my LP AW 75 with 2 lenses.

tmalone 893 congratulations & enjoy the new body and let us know how satisfied you are with the 5D mkII
