It was a nice day and I have been wanting to try doing this for awhile. I wish I had a tripod though. It was a pain aligning them all in gimp. I wish I had the link to the tutorial I used. I just used one photo as the background and opened the others as layers then just used a layer mask to paint him in as he moved. Let me know what you think.

The sequence effect is ok when done properly IMHO. You should give the subject space in between each sequence of a trick.

ie. Image 1 should not need 8 stills of the subject to cover that boardslide... half that will probably suffice.

honestly i am not a fan of sequences they were nice back in the transworld issues in the early 00's but now they just dont hold any creativity (unless displaying a very complicated trick). to me action sports photography is all about being creative. i do like the 2nd one but it might just be because the rail is wikked and buddies hat is sick :).

I have noticed how they have faded in popularity. Transworld seems only to use them in their how to do this trick section. My buddy really wanted some sequence shots. I will tell him to bust out some better tricks next time. I think you are right about them being to close together Justin. Yeah zac i guess the only reason for a sequence is to show that the trick was sequenceworthy.

Regardless of the popularity (which isn't the point of this thread), you tried something new to you and you succeeded well - even without a tripod (slap on the hand! Always use a tripod). The issue at hand here being asked by the OP are his post production skills attempting to stitch together an action sequence not the content of the action or weather Transworld Snowboarding played it out.

OP - good work. It takes forever and a day to PP a sequence.

I agree you did something new and you did great at it. now that you know how to do it think creatively. go out there a do some more like you did but new angles. keep playing with it you will have an amazing piece and make it "popular" again. (for me it doesnt get old for sports. its neat to see how they do it in slow motion. it give more credit to the people doing the trick or throwing the ball. it shows everything that you have to do right in order to land the trick or throw a strike.) keep it up
