I just ordered one today. How the hell do I sneak this beast past the wife? I'm sure any black lense would have been a non issue but this thing is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Maybe I'll try and convince her the white lenses are the cheap ones.:D

You need to tell her its a replica imported from India, and its made out of a piece of cream coloured drain pipe and the switches are fake ones. You won't have the tripod collar for it, so the drainpipe descript might work.
Also put some sticky tape around it and tell her its second hand until her suspicions weaken.

tell her L stands for "Low" series, as in cheaper quality and less expensive haha

I had the same issue but my gf knows L means expensive. She said i shoulda put the $ towards not a red ring but a platinum one with a diamond on it haha

Luckily the general public has no idea that the lenses cost what they do...

1.tell her you got it from the corner of the street. it is a knock-off from China.
2.buy black electrical tape...
3.put it in a nice hand bag give it to her as a gift and act surprise when you find out ur new lens is in the nice new hand bag of hers.

Man up, and tell her you ordered a new L. If she wants one she can get her own.

Tell her it'll help you make her look even more gorgeous when you photograph her.

Add chocolates and roses for added emphasis.

"Hey, darling! Look! The old lens I sent for a paint-job just arrived! How do you like it white?"

You'll probably hear a:
"But why white?"

and the logic answer is:
"So others won't confuse theirs with mine" ;)

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D
