As luck would have it I just traded my S3IS for a lens, she thinks I'm crazy trading a camera for a lens.

depends on where the funds came from. I just make sure that I keep track of any side work and use that money to pay for any new toys. No need to lie to the wife :)

Sit at the kitchen table with a little bottle of white paint and a brush.. When she comes home, ask her what she thinks of your paint job! ;)

This is one of the reason I don't like this lens. It is too "noticeable"/high profile for the relatively un-versatile lens.

Put the lens hood backwards when she is with you. It will cover more than half of the lense... after a while "they all look the same for them"... my commander in chief is a CPA so my creative accounting has to be good otherwise I will be hitting the sofa if I'm lucky!

I just ordered one today. How the hell do I sneak this beast past the wife? I'm sure any black lense would have been a non issue but this thing is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Maybe I'll try and convince her the white lenses are the cheap ones.:D

Your choices in order:

1) Black Lens Coat if they make 'em that small
2) Black electrical tape
3) Black Sharpie pen
4) New wife...most longest lasting option...you can then buy any ole' white L lens you want...unless
She racks you over the financial coals for alimony payments in which case you'd have to sell all your lenses and still be divorced.
Which is why it still is the last choice.

Lotsa stuff, running outta room and a wife...I keep looking at her and wondering???

I would not lie...cause I don't want to sleep alone...hahaha

Buy her a coach bag! Call it even.

Have you considered the black lens covers?

The golden rule of marriage! At least mine anyways. ;)

I use this all the time as well

...now we are in counseling. What a waste of time. I don't know why we are here. I'm missing all kinds of shooting opportunities. But I don't dare say that... she might see it as a shooting opportunity too.

hmmmm.....

:)
