I've had my S90 a little over a month and noticed the pictures weren't quite sharp. I called up Canon service and they had me do a "camera reset to default". It now seems to be OK. I'm not new to photography but am at a loss as to what got reset. Any ideas? Thanks.

Is that possible? The camera would seem to focus but just wasn't sharp. I would get the in-focus confirmation beep on each shot.

Send it in for service. It's free if under warranty.

What mode do you shoot in & do you customize your own settnigs, or just point & shoot ?
Just thinking maybe someone handled the camera before you & mucked with the settings.

Maybe you had IS turned off?
ISO turned up too high (noise)?
ISO turned down too low (camera shake)?

can you post samples with exif of the previous bad focus image & a good one now?

1.6 crop & some lenses

Did you happen to have it in manual focus? The camera still beeps when the focus is set to manual, but of course the intended subject could be not in focus.

The easiest way to check is to see if there's an "MF" in the corner of the screen, but the most obvious way is if a "zoom box" appeared in the center of the screen when you took pictures.
