I have a 40D which i am keeping to use as a second body. I am considering the following 5D classic or a 7D. I shoot wildlife and sport(motorcycle racing) but want to get the best bang for my buck. I want to start taking more landscape images but i just cannot make my mind up hence the now thumping sore head. I know the 5D isn't favoured for fast action, the 7D with the 8fps would be probably the better option but is it ok for landscape and would it be that much of a leap from the 40D?

What lenses do you have?

If the 40D is meeting your needs for motorcycle racing I would probably go with the 5D, that would make a nice combo assuming you're good on lenses.

The 7D would give you an upgrade in AF, but the 40D is no slouch either. If the 8fps is important, then go 7D.

Since you're keeping the 40D, I'd go 5D, and use the 40D for racing.

Can't you sell the 40D and get the 5D AND 7D? :p

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

I was in the same situation. I decided on the 7D using the 40D as a second camera and the XS as backup.

After getting the 7D, I never looked back.

I would go with the 7D, sure its not full frame. I think I get great pictures both action and landscape.

Lenses, i have the sigma wide angle 10-22, canon 70-200l f4 and canon 100-400l. I was contemplating the 7d and then once i see how the 7d performs sell the 40d and get 5d or 5d mII. But going full frame and comparing the lenses that i have what would i need lens wise to supplement the full frame so i have all avenues covered ie landscape with the full frame?
