Looking at two comparably priced15.6" screened laptops: one laptop has a screen resolution of 1600x900, the other one has a better graphics card with a resolution 1366x768. I will be running photoshop elements 8 and possibly lightroom 3. My question is would the higher screen resolution be worth it for photo processing on a 15.6" laptop vs the better graphics card (movies, v games ect). Thanks in advance.

Andrew

Neither pse8 nor LR2/3 needs any card other than modern integrated graphics. Movies, INCLUDING bluray run more than fine on the new intel GMA x4500HD (or any core i3/i5 system). And you won't be playing any modern games reasonable well on a laptop, even at lower resolutions.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Back when laptops only ran 1gb of memory, shared memory was more of an issue. But assuming these 2 computers you're looking at have 4gb or more memory (and I don't know why you'd buy one with less than that!), trimming 128mb off the top of that to run your video is so minimal that you aren't going to notice any difference at all.
