XS and RAW

i noticed that it shoots slower in contiuous mode with RAW than without RAW. will a better card help?

Yes.

I think the XS can only buffer 5 RAW frames

Actually, no, it won't help with speed. The XS drops to half speed for continuous shooting when set to RAW or RAW+JPEG. Kinda sucks, but its on the listed specs - 1.5fps RAW, 3fps JPEG. So not really a sports camera...
