Hi guys,

I just noticed my 50L makes a strange noise. When I turn it around, it rambles. There is something loose in it. It doesn't appear to be any glass and I can still autofocus. It just rambles.

What could it be?

If it is still within warranty, why not send it to Canon to be checked out?

Apparently I've been dubbed Foxy.

I bought it second hand, but will have to send it to canon now. I'm abroad, however, so I will have to wait until the beginning of April. Damn damn damn!

yikes...sorry to hear it

It's my favorite lens, and Wem, you're partly to blame for me getting it - great postings in the 50L thread. So, get that lens fixed soon! :)

Hey man,

thanks! I feel *really* terrible. I bought it second hand from JB on this forum, so I don't have any warranty left. I am in the US but will start a tour here in 3 weeks and apparently my camera shop here needs 4 weeks to fix orders (it said on their website). Hopefully they can do it sooner, I'll call them in the morning.

I have quite some neat lenses, but I use this one for 95% of my shots. I feel sick to my stomach now.

Oh, and just to be sure: no one recommends me to open it myself and remove the loose piece, right?

Unless you are proficient in disassembly/repairs of small items, I'd say no.

Damn, that sucks Wim!

I hope you don't blame me for some reason, because when I sold it to you a few months ago it was working perfectly fine. Never had problems with it.

No, no! Sure not! The lens didn't ramble when I bought it. I shot with it so many times, I would have found out earlier. No, I would buy from you again. :-)
