That's really stunning, Kev. I would say it's wall-worthy!

Thank you Annie but my wall is a bit full...............mainly of Highland pics taken with the old 350 and kit lens. Jeez they look crap compared with today's kit. It's the memories that count though :-)

I like this, but I'm a little mystified by its true scale.

Thank you. It's a huge support column holding up a stadium in town. Look up Alamodome.

I like this photo even though nothing in it appeals to me. I'm not a car person by any means, the car is too far to the right by the standard advice to leave head space in front of a moving subject, the man isn't doing anything that makes an interesting pose, backgrounds like that are a dime a dozen along commercial streets with or without the panning blur, and even the car itself isn't as sharp as it could be. But the whole thing seems very good. I'm baffled. What's the secret?

I haven't the slightest idea, but I agree and appreciate it. It breaks all the rules, but there's something I like I can't put my finger on. Maybe it just feels good to break the rules from time to time, lol.

To me the framing of the image, consistent with your observations, creates a sense of the car stopping abruptly. The same sense would not have been obtained had it been framed in the conventional manner.

Not sure, wouldn't the front end then be lower and the passenger leaning (thrown) forward? On the first viewing, I understood the car to be moving along smoothly.

One thing–this may be too abstract to account for a visual reaction, but it's a starting point–is that there's a sense of place. Not the particular place, though, but place in a sort of Everyman way. Many places look like that.

Oh Look's comment above regarding liking a picture and not really knowing why........reminded me of one I shot some time ago. It was actually an accident. For whatever reason I pressed the shutter release as she was moving from one pose to another and I got this. I love this picture for just some unknown reason. There are probably a lot of pictures that strike us all in this way.

You like it......just because it does something for you. Which, I guess, could be said for most all pictures.
