I have this as a loaner for the weekend - and now I want it!

QUOTED IMAGE

My son had the automatic convertible on long term lease. At 16000 kms the starter broke up and the rental company replaced it with a Smart... It was very fun to drive though..

My first car was an earlier version of this: a purple 1963 mini van. 850cc motor. It was fun to drive too but taught me a lot about mechanics.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

I don't want to learn about mechanics. However, the way cars are now I think skills in IT may be more important

True that. As a fun car second car, sure. But at that point the original R53 'S' is what I would get - the first gen with the supercharger. Those are fun, although they're not put together all that well, lol.
My mom had a JCW MCS convertible. It was a fun car, but I'm glad I wasn't paying the repair bills....! :D

Last year I was looking at a used M5 V10, I did a search on the BMW forum and found an owner who said it was a great car in that he always got to drive a brand new different BMW when it was in being repaired.

I've had several old ones (all from the 80's) and they were wonderful cars that were an absolute blast! They sure don't make them like they used to though, that's for sure! All the new tech is a curse if you ask me, haha. I now drive Hondas and Toyotas. :D They're really boring, but they're also a bit less of a headache. Haha.
