I understand there'e a lightroom plugin that supports watermarking but would it do something like below. Where the canvas size is increased and text is added to the new space, not over the image?

IMAGE NOT FOUND
IMAGE IS A REDIRECT OR MISSING!
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Redirected to error image by FLICKR

*Is* the canvas size increased? Or is there just a black line with text over the bottom part of the image? Latter can be done with LR + mogrify I think. If you want to increase the canvas and add a watermark, PS(E) will do nicely.

What software do you have?

Have a read in the "similar threads" found in the lower left of the page.

CS4 and LIghtroom.

I used CS4 to make the watermark above but a typical shoot will yield 3-500 images, mostly good ones. I'd like to do a batch on all of them before release.

I do a lot of model mayhem tf work and as a result a lot of the images end up on facebook and want to get more attention by adding a non intrusive watermark.

I'll have a play with mogrify.

If you have a watermarking action: Bridge > Tools > Photoshop > Image processor > Have a coffee.

Alternative: The NAPP Watermark Creator Version 1.0.7 (external link)

Thanks Rene, sorted it with the plugin you originally suggested.
