Hi, is there any way I can get a very high quality live view picture directly on my laptop using my 5D2?

I wouldn't mind being able to use the laptop to focus during still live shots, and using the laptop for a proper preview during portraiture.

I have the standard cable, but it provides an awful picture. I'm hoping on some kind of high definition solution.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using an HDMI cable instead of the standard video cable?

Or, the other option is to connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable and using EOS Utility to shoot tethered.

Thanks PacAce, just found the answer before I saw your reply. Yep, used the USB, I didn't even know the option existed. Very convenient.

Thanks again.
