I went to check the "I thought ALL Sigma lenses needed calibrating" box and couldn't find it :p

I bought a used 150 Macro recently and it appears to focus perfectly on my 5DII. Until something comes along to change my opinion I am not messing with the camera's MA.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

+1 for leaving MA alone. Not sure what happens with zooms. Set it for 100MM on a 70-200 and what happens to the other FLs?

I'vepreviously owned Sigma's 24-70 f/2.8 EX (Non-HSM), 30 f/1.4, 10-20 and 18-50 f/2.8. I also currently own their 150 f/2.8 APO Macro and 50 f/1.4 EX and have never had focusing issues with any of them or had any calibrated.

They've been used on a 350D, 20D, 40D, 5D, 1DsI & my current 1DsII, none of which have MA of course. The problem with trying to get an idea of percentages is that many people won't bother to share their experiences and many more buyers don't use photography forums like POTN etc (Inconceivable I know! ;))

Like Chris L, I've owned 5 Sigma lenses (have 105 macro and 50 1.4 currently) and have never had a problem, nor have the friends I sold my other Sigmas to.

I micro-adjusted mine, but I can't help myself - I would have done the same with a Canon lens. By the way, my lens was quite close (+5)

I've owned a 18-50 Macro and 30mm f/1.4. The 18-50 was a great lens (one I loved to no end ... until I got my 17-55 IS), and focused perfectly; in fact, I never could have imagined Sigma with quality issues when I started with this lens - until I came onto POTN and started seeing this stuff.

The 30mm was a fantastic lens - after 2 trips to Sigma. The AF was way off out of the box, slightly off after the first trip in, and magically perfect after the second trip although Sigma said they couldn't find it to be out of adjustment. I'm mainly chalking that one up to lack of experience with a fast lens since I can't prove any different! ;) :)

Returned my first 50mm 1.4, +20 was not enough correction. The replacement is better it only needs +8 at 4', +5 at 6', +3 at 8' and 0 at 10 and 12' have not tested past 12'. Its going back for calibration soon.
