I posted on craigslist an add for a 10, 20, or 30d canon. I got a response early this AM, and it was for a 30d, with less than 10k clicks, it comes with a EF 28-80mm an EF 50mm f/1.8 and another lens (I think it's 18-55, but he named them off quickly), plus two cards, and I believe he said he'd "give" me the canon speedlight for free. All for $700. Is this a good deal? what if I just got the camera, nift fifty and the cards (maybe flash) for $500?
Any ideas?

Well find out what speedlite first. If it's at least the 420EX then it's an ok deal. 30Ds can be had for ~$400, 50mm f1.8 ~$85, 18-55 non-IS ~$30-40.

now where can I find a nikon 18-55mm for $30-40!? I would love to have one to get my nikon back and working!
I may just go ahead and not jump on the offer, I would rather have the 20d for a little less, from what I can tell the 20-30d difference is not much, except for price...

That's a damn good deal for all three of those lenses and just the body alone, and he's including a flash plus CF cards? wow! then I would jump all over it. It sounds a little too good actually...be careful ;)

He's switching to Olympus, after switching from nikon to canon, I guess he just can't make up his mind... LOL I would love to jump on it, but after looking into it, I haven't the funds for it... Being a student really sucks!

Ok...I read the post wrong. I thought it was a 28-135 IS included (Don't know how I got that )

Sounds like he's asking about what it's worth here. The 28-80 is a terrible lens IMO, I had a copy and it NEVER got used so I gave it away.

The 30D, and 50mm 1.8 would be a nice little setup for you, if you could get those two items for $475 then that would be a good deal. I would skip the other two lenses personally and find a 28-135 IS on here for $200-$250 bucks a little later on down the road since your on a tight budget.

any suggestions raising $475 in a week!? LOL I asked him to trade, but he wasn't sure what for. He asked for an olympus 17-100? (something like that) and it's worth $500 (he would have given me the whole set-up) but alas, I don't have an olympus lens sitting around... LOL
I was just wondering if that was what it was really worth.... now I know it is LOL

I use to be a student! It wont last forever! I didn't get into photography at all until after I graduated, even though I wish I could have.

The 220 EX is a pretty weak flash, but it's better than nothing I guess. If you can live without a external flash for now I would just skip it and put that cash toward a better one in the future. If the 30D really has the low clicks and is in good shape then it sounds like your getting the body and lenses for about the going rate. I would tell him to keep that 28-80 and see if he would knock a few bucks more off.

Hey now...I like my Oly :D

The E520 and 14-42 is a nice little setup...the best darn kit lens from any company out there IMO. I still wouldn't ditch my Canon gear to shoot Olympus exclusively though.

You might ask for the 220EX flash instead of the 28-80mm. For $100 or less you can get the 18-55mm IS lens which is pretty decent and better than the 18-55 non-IS or the 28-80. The YN-460 is a manual flash (no ETTL support), so you might opt for 220EX or the YN-467 which supports ETTL.
