Was messing about with the flower from a lily, and after several attempts at various angles, I decided to settle on this overhead view.

I placed the lily in a small pot stood on black mountboard (the sort I/we would put camera club prints on) and exposed for the flower petals with a bit of a -1EV.

This gave the black plenty of oomph, but in LR I nudged the black slider up a touch as well.
