helmet/bullet cam for stills

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but let's give it a shot.

I'd like to mount a camera on my snowmobile to take some action shots while I'm riding, but don't want to mount an expensive camera that's going to get wrecked if something happens.
My first thought is a helmet cam style device, but I was wondering if there's anything like this out there that's meant to just take stills...no video.

I have a buddy with a helmet cam that he uses for auto racing. He mounts it to the headrest of his car, and then it connects to his camcorder. Something like this would be exactly what I'm looking for, but I don't have a camcorder, and I'm interested in taking stills, not video.

Any ideas??

Check out gopro, they have helmet cameras that do HD video or take a 5MP still every 3 seconds if I remember correctly.

agreed. Love my old school GoPro. The new HD will probably be in my hands this summer.
