I was hoping to see more pictures this week, was the subject too hard? or is it just general lack of time? I miss some of the usual "players", but I see new blood, which is good :)

Some words on each picture:

Bound: Strange piece you have there, can't figure out from were it is. nice detail, why BW?

File Finder: That I recognize what it was even before reading description :) There's a relative size spot on the black background which I would had cloned it, also the flash light reflection on the metal burned it a bit.

Damascus: I wasn't expecting a texture on this challenge. congrats, you made me google for that knife :)

Metal Spider: I like the atmosphere of the photo, but its (literally) too dark for my taste :p

For the winner of this week challenge, I pick unnerv and his Damascus

Congratulations to all the participants and specially to you :)

Congrats, Unnerv on the win and to the other participants!

I've just been a little busy these days. Haven't done much with the camera but hope to get back in the groove again soon! The theme wasn't a hard one warl0rd. I just didn't get around to it this week! :(

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

Congrats unnerv! Cool pics everyone!

"Bound", that my friend is one of my wife's earings, and the background is the handle of a flashlight. Why b&w, becuase I liked it better than the color version...;)

Wow can't believe this! Metal is one of my favorite mediums and I spent all night looking for a cool shot. Originally I had planned to take a picture of my metal lathe cutting a thread into a maglite body but I just couldn't get an interesting composition. After going through about 20 something shots I was about to give up, but I remembered a pocket knife I had bought recently and I really wanted to get an entry into this topic.

BTW here is the shot of the pocket knife. It is a Kershaw Scallion Damascus. Please excuse the quickie pic, but I thought some of you might like to see the subject for scale. It has a 3 inch blade and the subject of the photo can be seen right above the "M" of the 1620DAM text on the blade.

Incase anyone is interested in how Damascus steel is made here is a wiki link

Thanks to everyone for the congrats, I didn' think I had a chance up against the excellent competition. I'll try to come up with something interesting for the next one shortly.

I was pretty sure that was something knurled in the back ground. I played with some might magnification shots of knurling too before I settled on the knife. "Bound" is a great composition and would have been my 1st choice if I was in Warl0rds shoes.

Congratulations, unnerv, very creative approach!

I should learn to just leave my images alone, I darkened that one to put more emphasis on the spider, probably went too far. Here (external link)'s the original haha.

Thank you. I dug the texture of your image, very nice indeed.
