I would appreciate it if anyone who has had experience with this tripod mount laptop deck would give me a yes or no recommendation on quality. Thanks.

This is a link to Prophoto Life's Video Library. Episode 29 tells how to tether a camera to a notebook computer and shows a fabricated notebook holder which makes use of an old tripod.

There used to be an episode which showed how to fabricate this notebook holder. It is a simple procedure and doesn't take a cabinet maker's skills.

I couldn't find the fabrication episode but, it is late and I am tired. Perhaps if you have an interest you could either find it or contact Prophoto Life to find out where it went.

Thanks for the response, RPCrowe, but I'm just looking for a recommendation on this product. It mounts on a tripod and is a great deal less expensive than a lot of competitive products.

Buy a small piece of Lexan plastic from a plastics retailer, drill a hole and tap a 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-20 hole with a tap purchased at a hardware store, to fit the tripod head or mounting screw on the center column...a FAR sight cheaper than even the Tallyn!

Thanks Wilt, I might have to give it a try. Anything would work, even plywood. Put a non-slip rubber mat on it, cut notches or holes for Velcro straps to hold the notebook. I'm a capable DYIer but Tallyn is done, just screw it on.

If I don't get any reviews from some one with experience I'll probably take your suggestion and build my own. Thanks.

Certainly not a bad price, even when it's doubled with the added mouse pad. Please let us know how you like it.

I saw a collapsible table for laptops, with telescoping legs, in Target ad fairly recenty, for only $30

I've seen several of that type, most recently, at Office Depot. They were all of unacceptable quality, very unstable, plus they had insufficient height adjustment. This type of table is designed for use as temporary laptop desks at sitting height.

For me, the tripod mount is the correct way to go.
