Are there any 28 or 35mm ~f/2, MF primes for $400 or less? That outperform both the 28/1.8 and 35/2, I might add. I know there's a Zuiko 28/2, but I'm wondering if there are any other options.

If there's nothing else at f/2, I guess recommend me an ~f/2.8 with high resolution and at least decent bokeh (also < $400). Thanks.

edit: it must clear the mirror on a 5D

Not 100% sure about 5D mirror clearance, but the Zeiss Flektogon 35mm f2.4 is amazing. It's not quite f2.0, but it does focus to 1:2 mag.

Does that clear the mirror on a 5D? I know other Asahi Pentax's that don't...

Thanks, I'll look into that.

If you get the m42 mount it should be fine, but the bayonet style mount obviously wont w/o modification.

Reviews are mixed, but I've heard the Vivitar Series 1 (the original, not what they're building now) 28/1.9 is good. I have the Zuiko 28/2 and recommend it highly.

I looked at the 28/2. I like the resolution, but then I saw the bokeh...it reminded me of a Canon 50/1.4

Anyone know how the Asahi Pentax 35/2 and Zeiss Jena 35/2.4 compare, resolution-wise? Just to save me the trouble of buying both...

Not good, but very good. Back in the day (70's and 80's) I had one and in all ways it was a terrific lens.
