I lagged in buying tickets for a Las Vegas weekend and decided to drive instead. Looking at what photo opportunities there are on the drive back from Vegas back home to San Diego. Thanks!

Long drive but worth it. P.S. don't take any dirt roads easy to get lost or stuck. Bring plenty of water and warm clothing in the winter. Remember civilization ends 100 yards from the roads.

Then take I-10 to Hwy.62 to Route 66 to Hwy.95 then up to Vegas. Depending on when you leave, say in a few weeks you could get flowers the whole way. You'll also get Amboy, the salt ponds and many other interesting views. Dave - Riverside, CA PhotographersNature.com

Joshua Tree is pretty cool - Personally I like country roads much more that freeways - I'd look at this route ah 7D, EOS-M, 100-400 L, 15-85, Tokina 11-16 2.8, EF-M 11-22, 55-200
