Wouldn't that also be a steal my camera bag t-shirt, the gear is worth money. When I learned to shoot, my mentor always taped over, or blacked out the make and model. Never used to stock neck strap with a manufactures name or model on it, I always use Domke straps. I try to stay as low key as I can, I wish there was a way to blacken a 70-200/f4 that wouldn't ruin the lens.

Google 'Lens Coat' there should be a black option available but the camo would make your lens invisible ;)

Do you honestly think that blacking out Canon or Nikon is going to stop a thief from taking a piece of camera gear? Thieves don't care what brand it is. All they care about is you have it and they want it.

Yes...............There are smart thieves out there that do target high end stuff. having Canon or Nikon on a camera is a target. For the everyday thief, no it doesn't matter. Me, I would still rather not advertise I have a name brand camera.

A thief is a thief is a thief. If he is a truly smart thief, he's going to know what the brand is by merely looking at the body. They each have their own profiles and a smart thief, as you put it, will know the difference. A stupid thief just wouldn't care and grab what he can.
