I'm digging the 18% shirt. lol

All of my camera gear is taped over, for protection against scratches but also for hiding the brands. It's not going to magically keep away thieves but it's allot harder to tell I'm shooting a $2,000 body vs a $200 body. I'm sure some thieves might tell which camera I'm shooting but I had many photographers have to ask me, what camera is that, even when it's in my hand inches away. Not to mention a crudely taped over camera looks pretty crappy, less of an eye magnet.

I also had my first 70-200 taped over, all blacked out. This was done more to fit in crowds than stand out, since a white lens just attracts too much attention. Shooting at events seems to get more security asking questions than people moving out of your way.

Thieves don't care whether it's a $2,000 body or a $200 body--both are fencible for enough money to buy the next hit. Crackhead sees "camera" and if the camera is accessible, crackhead steals it.

If you cover it in enough duct tape to make it look like a real piece of junk, a thief might overlook it, but if all you do is cover the name, it's still clearly worth stealing.

Yes...............There are smart thieves out there that do target high end stuff. having Canon or Nikon on a camera is a target. For the everyday thief, no it doesn't matter. Me, I would still rather not advertise I have a name brand camera.

There are generic SLRs??

Sigma made or makes an SLR, I would put that in generic category.

Most of the pros that work for National Geographic tape up there cameras when out of the country. To me, they would know best practice about lowering equipment theft.

I've asked my wife to just shoot me if she ever found me wearing a shirt with anything related to photography on it.

Exactly...
