I have always used the PW II Transceiver.

What would I gain by going to the new model? Is the size and TTL the only real improvements. I need to get a few more to have a second portrait setup. I am very happy with my PW II's right now so unless the new version adds something Im not seeing I wills tick with those.

Thanks!

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have a bunch of PW II's. What I'm thinking of doing is getting a Mini
TT1 and a Flex TT5. I'd use the Mini on my camera in the studio to trigger my old PW II's and on location when I take the Flex TT5 to trigger my 580EX with the benefit of TTL. Having TTL on location seems like it should save time, allow more flexibility in positioning the light and the camera, relative to the subject without having to re-meter all the time, and also use high-speed synch to shoot with a shallow DOF if that suits me. I've hesitated because of the cost and RF issue.

Matt, are you going to use them with studio strobes or hot shoe flashes?

I just moved to PW Plus II from CS and got one miniTT1 to try hypersync thing but to me the miniTT1 don't seem to be built like old Plus IIs. And I am worried about having my flash on top of the mini.

My main use will be for studio strobes. One for each light and one for the camera of course.

From reading around it seems the PW II's will continue to do what I need. HSS and ETTL are not important to me.

Plus I love how sturdy the old version is.

For the TT1/TT5 users... do you experience any reliability issues? I heard when they came out they were plagued with issues and I haven't taken a second look at them since. HSS would be incredibly nice to have.
