Yep it has to be one of the 1st hybrid aircraft. Packing 6 reciprocating prop engines and 4 jet engines meaning it had to have two separate fuel storage systems one for av gas and one for JP4 jet fuel. It is unique in that it never did fly one combat mission during its service time.

Nope, the B-36 only carried gasoline. The turbo jets were specially modified to burn the same fuel as the recips. Made life a lot simpler.

Nice pics.
Chino Planes of Fame is somehow connected to Pima. If you get out to SoCal make sure to check out Planes of Fame at Chino and also the March Field Museum. Both are great.

Regarding Strategic Air Command: Still waiting for it to be on DVD.

AFAIK, PoF has no connection to Pima. Pima is it's own entity.

You may be thinking of the PoF "annex" up at Valle, AZ which is about halfway between Flagstaff and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Pima does have a connection with the Titan Missle Museum in Green Valley, AZ.

You're right about the PoF relation. Not sure why I thought that. It is actually in Valle AZ

That's another cool tour... Really quite interesting. Someday, I'm going to go back and take the long tour.
