The first one is very nice, I think it could sell as stock if the lighting on the table was even. The second is really something. The only thing I would change about it is to maybe have a slightly downward angle to see a little more of the berry. Very good stuff

What kind of white paint did you use for the second one? Awesome shots, but the lack of any opacity and the immediate stickiness to the bottom of the strawberry made me question the reality of it.

The only thing I would change is the "S" in strawberries. It looks like you made it bold on purpose, I just can't see why. Unless you just did this to show the images here that is.

Thick cream can give the same effect?

Thanks for all the comments!

Re: Flo and pickupman, Whipping Cream was used. Pretty heavy stuff, and it tends to whip instantly when hit.

To talshadar:
Pretty simple setup, spoon was super-clamped on a magic arm, and placed into position on top of table.
One 580 for main, and one 430 for fill, both camera left, another 430 under the table positioned at a wall and gelled blue for background.

I then just filled the spoon with cream and manually released the shutter as I dropped the strawberries, watching from same plane as the spoon.

Super easy, though set up was a pain, and between shots I had to clean the spoon, berry and any gear that the cream splashed onto.

sweideman and anyone else do you think that the "S" is too bold? Should I just leave it the same as the rest.

This is the beginning a series I'm doing and each will be printed 12x18". So anything that anyone notices would be greatly helpful.

Thanks again!

Why not zoom in more on #1? Fill the frame with your subject, and if the side or bottom of the cup gets cut off, it won't matter.

Awesome captures! Love the light on the 2nd image. The 1st needs to have more even lighting.

I love strawberries and it makes me look forward to our annual strawberry festival in town!!!
