I'm looking for a light backpack that's not too "thick". I can deal with something < 3lbs, depth at back < 6.5", has a tripod holder and is comfortable to wear. Load isn't much: 7D, 17-55, 24L-II & 50L and a 580EX-II. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thx.

My Nature Trekker came with a lowepro Tripod attachment for their modular system. It's an amazingly comfortable backpack that I can hike for hours wearing.

Thx! Looks like a great bag. However, I'm looking for a bag weighing 3lbs or less. Cheers.

I guess Flipside 300 didn't work for you?

I find the 300 a tad too big and I don't like the cheap zippers on it. The dividers are not very customizable either. The 200 is too small.

However, after checking out Think Tanks, Tenbas, other Lowpros, Tamracs and Katas @ a store today, I've come to realize that the 300 is the best compromise between size, weight, storage capacity & easy access. I'll be using the 300 & my old Kata 3n1-10 depending on the situation. Hopefully, I won't have to purchase any more bags, lol.

look at either burton or dakine skiing/snowboarding packs. They make lighter weight packs with straps designed for shovel handles that work well for tripods. Their smaller packs should weigh less than 3lb and their thinner/smaller packs with be under your 6.5" requirement. Then, once you've found a pack that works, get a tenba messenger insert for $20 and BAM! its' a camera bag. Both DaKine and Burton actually make camera bags, but they'll all be over 3lbs and over 6.5" thick.

here's my burton AK 3l with my tenba insert in it for reference:

I prefer Kata to every other brand of backpack. I've tried on most. The kata has a separate tripod holder attachment.

The 3n1-20 fits your description exactly.

I agree. I have the 3n1-10 and love it. However, there are the odd times, when I want to transport my tripod INSIDE the backpack. Cheers.
