I've moved away from the UD40/Classified 200 debate and am now going to get either the UD35 or the Classified 160. From all I've read, the Classified 160 seems to look better and perhaps be better constructed, but the UD35 has more pockets and that laptop pocket. It also costs twice as much as the 160.

So my question to 160 owners - can I slide a netbook (10") into that front pocket under the flap on the 160?

Thanks for all the help you guys give me - it's much apprecitaed.

I don't believe it is designed to hold a laptop of any kind.

I have the Classified 140. Lowepro does not advertise the Classified 160 as being able to hold a notebook computer. Only the 250 is advertised as capable of holding a laptop up to about 15 inches. You are trying to hold a 10 inch netbook, though. Depending on your other gear, it might fit, but I do not know for sure.

I think the best thing to do would be to get your hands on one before you buy and see if it will fit your gear. Alternatively, order one from an online store but be sure they have a good return policy in case it does not work out. I can tell you that the 140 I have is robust and very well made. However, this rugged construction does have a downside in that the materials are thick and a bit stiff. This makes packing the bag really full a little difficult.

I see a reveiw of it here http://www.cambags.com/ (external link).

I do not see any slot for a netbook. I use the Kata 3n1 22 for my netbook, some personal items, and a camera with grip and lens, a flash, and a couple of other lenses. The bag works great for that load and made a wonderful vacation bag.

I have this at the shop where I work, and no, it doesn't have a notebook pocket.
You're mentioning a netbook, and even thought there's no dedicated slot I think you could cram it in some pocket there, at least up to 10" I'm pretty sure would be possible..

The pocket which is one closer to the camera from the zipper there, I'm quite sure you can fit a 10" in there.

I realize it doesn't have a notebook pocket, which is why I'm asking... I'm looking at pics of the front pocket (the larger one - not the one with the flap over it) and asking if that would hold a 10" netbook (it''s about 8" wide when inserted longways, and about 1" thick. I can't see one as I live over 6 hours from the closest store that carries them, and have to buy online, site unseen.

But from what you all are saying, I'm probably best off the pay the extra and go for the sure thing in the UD35.

As we have discussed elsewhere, my money is on the TT UD-35 ... an excellent bag! It is tall enough for long lenses, even mounted on the camera, and tall enough to stack 2 medium length lenses. Plus it will hold my 13 MacBook Air or any Netbook. I always travel with a small computer and my camera!

The prices are about the same (160: best price of about $129; UD35 is $149). They are both very nice bags. But, since we know the UD35 will fit your computer, yes, I'd say get that one.

Actually I can get the 160 for $85CA with free shipping, but the best price for the UD35 is $162CA with $20CA shipping - a huge difference to me...

So my question to 160 owners - can I slide a netbook (10") into that front pocket under the flap on the 160?

I don't have Netbook to test this out, but I took some measurements:

The front flap is 7" x 10": Opening appears wide enough to hold a Netbook.

The back zippered padded compartment is slimmer and is 8" x 8". Hope this helps ya.

That is helpful, thanks. I'm really leaning to the UD35 - I think it will work best for me.

Thanks for all the help - I was hoping to save money but I'm better off getting what I need...

The UD35 is often on eBay from Adorama, Hunts Photo, etc. with free shipping and 8% Bing cashback, but that probably doesn't help for purchases from Canada. There are also occasionally UD35 bags here on the buy-and-sell, I bought my second one here from a POTN member and it was new.

I just saw this thread. I have the 160 and I am able to fit my Lenovo S10 in the front pocket (not in the flap pocket). Here is a list of what I load into the bag when getting on a plane:
1. XSI w/ Tokina 11-16 2.8 (attached to the body)
2. EF 50mm 1.8 ii (under the camera w lens (above))
3. 55-250mm 4.0-5.6 one side of the body w/18-55 (kit lens) on top
4. PSP (1st gen w/ Logitech hard plastic case) other side of the body
5. Lenovo S10 (10.1") in the front larger pocket where the memory case is
6. Charger, pen brush, mini blower, misc small accessories in the front flap.

The bag is pretty much filled to capacity at this point. You have to work things in and out and gets pretty heavy on one shoulder.
I can fill the bag up and post a pic if interested.
