However, here is the "Copyright Basics" directly from the US copyright.gov website. It's also pretty easy to understand.

And the document describing online registration. It's $35 for as many little unpublished JPEGs as you can stay awake to upload in one session, as long as you can identify them in some kind of logical "collection," such as "All My Photos From 2009." You can only register a maximum of 700 published images in one $35 registration, and you can't mix published and unpublished images in a single registration.
