I hope you won at least :)
That's basically what we were using as well in the end.
Do the metal fixings ruin this shot?

IMG NOTICE: [NOT AN IMAGE URL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]

I like the shot but agree the bolt on left could do with being removed, I would also have a go at removing the latch next to the cat but that might prove to be tricky.

It got so bad last night I can't actually remember who won

Some great shots from last night people.

I tried to get a few of breaking waves today here's my feeble attempts not a good day to do it as the tide wasn't that strong.

Cheers Adrian it could of done with a faster shutter speed but when I reviewed it on the lcd it looked ok but that's the trouble with the camera's lcd.

Not really, but i would probably clone out the little brass locking lever on the left, as thats a little distracting so cloe to teh cats head.

Ronin Silv wrote in post #9841293 (external link)
Not really the bolt on the left looks out of place but not the window latches.

Cheers folks :)

Have removed the bolt on the left and done some general cleaning. Not sure about getting rid of the latch by the cat, it would be tricky as you say. And if you can't remember who won, then odds are good it was you :) Replaced the image on the server, so you may need to refresh to see the difference.

Was going to say the same thing. They turned out good though, if not a little dark.

[edit] - ok, got rid of the latch by the cat (Oswald) now too :)

Just come back from the wifeys 30th bday day, was out in hampsted heath, looks like spring has sprung.

Just took a quick snap using my macro with all the (manuel) extenders on had a bit of a tricky time trying to see through the VF at f13, colonys of ants give me the fear.

+1 on this one. Works the best though as Anke says also to me looks dark.

As for the shutter speed ~ have a go next time you go to that location with a range of shutter speeds and see what 'works for you', personally I like the water milky with a lower shutter speed. I am sure I state the blindingly obvious but if no tripod at the time just brace yourself nicely against the nearest beachside wall, groyne etc and you may be surprised just how low a speed you can get down to :D

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

This one just has a certain something of the Sci-Fi about ~ makes me think the Orb is a sort of sentinel protecting the building with an element of menace about it. Perhaps you could PP some lightning bolts zapping out linking it to the building :D ;)

f/32 and ISO 800 won't make for a good mix. If you're using flash, then there's no real need to use any ISO other than the most optimal (100). I look forward to seeing some more representative samples from that lens.

Pete - It does seem I had a bad mix of settings - don't it?
I was seeing how it could handle extremes.
I will do some serious work later and report back. But don't hold your breath.

F32 has fascinated me since the days of mahogany plate cameras with bellows and f stops on brass plates with holes in them.

Next time I go down and try to get the breakers I'll go faster to try and freeze the spay, I was braced against the apron as it was waiting for the right wave to come in I seemed to miss more than I shot as they seemed to come in when I looked away.

Thanks, I'm staring at it thinking I'm going mad when people are on about a bolt near the cat's head and I could see nothing.

It's something I've tried a number of times but not quite gotten right too. Part of the problem is probably the way Deal faces and it'd help if I got down near dawn to try and catch some rather than fighting the losing sun at the tail end of the day mind.
