I bought two new cars two weeks apart last year. Paid for them on my Debit card. The second one was nearly 23k. I went to the petrol station up the road from the dealer in warrington to pay for fuel, for the car I drove up in. MY bank stopped my card for 32 quid!
5 minutes after I had paid out for a car!!!

gotta love the banking "after the horse has bolted" approach - fills one with confidence!

COMPETITION ALERT...

Right chaps, here's an idea I have had for getting us into a creative mood each month.

I was browsing through DSLR User Magazine and they have just announced their "Battle of the Clubs" competition: http://www.dslruser.co.uk …om_competitions&Itemid=11 (external link)

The prizes on offer are quite tasty and I am thinking about entering a POTN SEUK club into the competition.

The way the comp works is thus:

Every month, we invite the UK camera clubs to enter their club’s favourite top three images based on that month’s theme.

Immediately after the round ends, the judges will go through every entry and judge each of the club’s three images on the following criteria:

* Picture impact (creativity/colour/mood) – max of 5 points
* Technical quality (Image/print quality) – max of 5 points
* Composition – max of 5 points

Each club’s entry can gain up to a maximum of 45 points per round: the idea being that the more rounds a club enters, the more that their points tally and position on the league table will rise. The winner of the Battle of the Clubs 2010 will be the club with the greatest points tally after the final round.

The way we could play it is to each enter a shot into a new thread and then vote on our favourite 3 images, then the top 3 images chosen would be the POTN SEUK entry for that month's competition.

I think to make it fair the entrants here must have a combined post count of a minimum of 30 posts across the UKSE threads, that way we get regular contributors rather than people in it just for the competition. Much like the book competition.

What do you all think?

sounds good to me - especially as we all cover a wide spectrum of styles and genres... we could be a force to be reckoned with! :D

Great, I shall get started on getting our presence onto the DSLR website and then I'll create a new thread over here for the entries. Round 1's theme is "Portrait".
