Sounds like a great idea. Something to get the creativity flowing is always good. :)

Great stuff.

Right, I have entered our club on their site here: http://www.dslruser.co.uk …le&act=clubprofile&id=511 (external link)

As the homepage for our club I created a page on my website as I couldn't get the link to POTN to be accepted for some odd reason! So our club website is this at the moment: http://www.mikegreenphotography.co.uk/potn (external link)

I'll get a new thread sorted out for the entries page shortly.

Should I put the thread in the "Competitions" section or the "POTN Member Activities" section?

*edit* I'll put it in the Competitions section

And I think that the entrants should freely discuss possible entries - if one of us has seen a shot from one of the members that they think should go into the vote then let them know - this should help to make our entry stronger.

Is it one entry a person then?

COMPETITION ALERT...

Right chaps, here's an idea I have had for getting us into a creative mood each month.

I was browsing through DSLR User Magazine and they have just announced their "Battle of the Clubs" competition: http://www.dslruser.co.uk …om_competitions&Itemid=11 (external link)

The prizes on offer are quite tasty and I am thinking about entering a POTN SEUK club into the competition.

The way the comp works is thus:

The way we could play it is to each enter a shot into a new thread and then vote on our favourite 3 images, then the top 3 images chosen would be the POTN SEUK entry for that month's competition.

I think to make it fair the entrants here must have a combined post count of a minimum of 30 posts across the UKSE threads, that way we get regular contributors rather than people in it just for the competition. Much like the book competition.

What do you all think?

Great idea. Shall I put something in the first post towards the new threads you make?

yeah i guess if we're voting on entries too - might seem obvious - but people should vote on entries most likely to be scored well by judges rather than their favourites. Not sure if those 2 things differ tbh

I think so (I might change my mind, we'll see how we get on!).

The timescale is very slim for this month's entries - closing date for the first round is 30th April so 2 days for entries, 2 days for voting and then we'll get the entry over to the DSLR USER site. Normally I think we could have the entry period for 2 weeks and the voting period for 1 week.

agreed - I always seem to like the wrong image when it comes to my own photgraphy! and I'm continually bemused when people like something I didn't!

as it's a team effort - we should strive for winning images!
