Really nice, Matt. That sparrow looks a bit fluffed up. I think it's a bit too early for babies, though isn't it?

Cheers Pete.. Not too sure really? Could be because it had been in the bird bath?! :D

Ahhh...

It's pretty funny when they stay in for so long that have trouble taking off afterwards. I've seen them so heavy with water that they've hit the fence a couple of feet below the top instead of landing on top of it.

I can imagine that being rather funny to watch!

I cleaned the windows a while ago, then a few days later i noticed a Pidgeon shaped dirty splat on the window!:lol:

Yeah, we've had that a few times. They suffer pretty badly from dandruff, don't they?

ermmm....more flickr mail, I didn't enter any comp!

Hi Ian,

I am writing to let you know that one of your photos has been short-listed for inclusion in the eleventh edition of our Schmap London Guide, to be published at the end of this month.

Clicking this link will take you to a page where you can:
i) See which of your photos has been short-listed.
ii) Submit or withdraw your photo from our final selection phase.
iii) Learn how we credit photos in our Schmap Guides.
iv) Browse online or download the tenth edition of our Schmap London Guide.

While we offer no payment for publication, many photographers are pleased to submit their photos, as Schmap Guides give their work recognition and wide exposure, and are free of charge to readers. Photos are published at a maximum width of 150 pixels, are clearly attributed, and link to high-resolution originals at Flickr.

Our submission deadline is Friday, May 14. If you happen to be reading this message after this date, please still click on the link above (our Schmap Guides are updated frequently - photos submitted after this deadline will be considered for later releases).

Best regards,

London guides appear to be the worst ones for trying to use pictures for free and wanting you to feel privileged to boot

Quicky question. Are non-brand batteries much worse than canon ones? Considering buying spares for both the 40D and 400D, but don't really want to be dropping a ton on a pair of batteries.

I got some third party batteries for my 40D and they work a treat, I will have a look and see where I got them from

I really like the panning shots and the blues one looks as though it is right out of the 40s

Nice work. The 4 above are my favourites. I've got a soft spot for black and whites and unusual view points. :)

I've used 3rd party batteries since I had my 400D and had no issues although I do buy the higher end makes rather than the cheap flea bay stuff for a fiver. The current ones I have are from Hahnel ones which have a good rep and are about half the price of the Canon ones - £23 vs £50. However, you can get a pack of 3 from a company called iBox for £18. I've never tried them but I'm sorely tempted to...

Re batteries I have used these for the 40D and they work well http://www.cellplus.co.uk/acatalog/VB101758.html (external link)

As Jon said tend to stick to the more reputable brands or have had good reviews

I also got a couple from here, good price but got stung by import duty which did not come to much but the Royal mail handling charge was around £12, again they work okay

That's a good price there Adrian, been happy with Uniross products in the past so will order a couple. Cheers.
