What did guys think of the indoors ones I posted here https://photography-on-the.net …?p=9747973&postcount=1108 ??? These were taken at the indoor arena at Merrist Wood College near Guildford, I had been keeping an eye on the events there and did a recce on Saturday when out shopping.

They have regular events of Show Jumping, Dressage and Ponies et al so I will be going again a few times over the next few months but think I need to hire the 85mm f2.0 or even the f1.8 (have I recalled that right) as it was very poor light and I have no wish to use flash even if they allow it and would like to get the shutter speed up above 1/100 for the showjumpers and dressage events.

I like horses though have not ridden in over 35years and I bet those Welsh Cobs were cute little characters

I like the traps and the driver, just the right amount of blur but for me I don't like the horses at all...

I know these images are far from being good, but this was my first time panning and shooting motorsport.

Like these two, bikes are harder to get to look good from that angle, personally I prefer the ones we took with them getting low on corners

Anyone up for doing something the Sunday after next? I need to give a shifty-looking brown box to Kay and it would be nice to do it under the cover of something respectable looking...

Did you have anything particular in mind, I have just about finished the book you lent me, very good and I am mindful I have had it a little while.

Definitely has more impact, Kris was saying bikes are hard to start with, most people start on cars which being larger are easier. If you can lower your shutter speed to get some panning and tyre blur

Thats good to know. I know i just need to practice and change some of my settings. Is there an ideal shutter speed for this, or is it depending on the lens?

Try tweaking the RGB curves individually, looks like the green channel may have been boosted slightly in the mid and at the top end.

No idea mate, never used LR. I'd assume you should be able to.

Evening all. Suffering from the return to work blues today! I wanna go back to Yorkshire!!

Some great shots been posted by all since my last appearance.

TCIK wrote in post #9753194 (external link)
so aside from our own urban explorers anyone taken a photo or two today??

& thanks for the further kind words on the logo, I work as a Marketing Manager - and I like to colour on my days off (when I'm not taking photos!)

For once, I have no photos to share today! ;) Took quite a few over the last week and looking at them on my main processing computer they don't look as good as on my lappy so I'm going to have to re-process all my Yorkie photos - I trust my main PC with IPS monitor much more than my laptop!

A belated congrats to you Lee about the book spine logo, very cool! :D

thanks a lot guys. Also got my very 1st chance to shoot some sports on sunday. There wereA LOT of throwaway shots though. That normal?

Yup, quite normal for me. I can shoot 500+ photos on a trigger happy afternoon's rugby match and I'll be happy with maybe 100 of them or less.

just had a play with my waacom bamboo. blimey its fiddly! i guess we just accept that using a mouse is so simple? Try relearning with a pen and tablet. just doodling so far in CS3..

The thing that got me at first was the way the tablet picked up the pen movements before you touched it. Still, much better to use for fiddly processing...and I must get drawing again soon...

courier wrote in post #9754606 (external link)
guys (not my shot) but i really like this PP effect - the colours etc

anyone know how it's acheived?

QUOTED IMAGE

Looks a bit like a cross processing variant. I think Hayden may be right with the idea of tweaking separate curves channels.

QUOTED IMAGE

There's no option to play with different colour channels in the curves settings in LR - I think you need photoshop for that. You can play with the Hue, Saturation and Luminance of different colour channels in LR though which I do quite often.
