It would seem that she has forgot that is not the thing to do and needs a reminder. Either that or you can try some Cesar Milan on her. [Heavy Cesar Accent] Ma'am what is wrong is your dog forget it is a dog. It forgets how to be a dog. You need to lead your dog. You must show the dog how to be a dog. So what we all need to do is go in the yard and pee. Come on, everyone lets go outside. Okay now everyone start going. Do not look at or talk to the dog just pee, everybody. I want you to practice. No mater the time of day or night, weather, or physicals condition, the whole family must eliminate together. Okay, so you understand it is your fault your dog goes in the bed because you use the bathroom, right? You have confused the dog, it is so very simple, right? Problem solved, join us next week when we show pooches eating the cats is bad by wiring the cat to a low voltage outlet. [/Chaser Milan} Lordy! I couldn't breathe for five minutes after reading that... cfpackerfan wrote in post #9785787 Edited, as not everyone likes to read the sad side. And it was a tad long. ![]() I missed it also... John

Woolburr wrote in post #9785635 Not being a horse person at all.....can I ask how the indians rode horses without benefit of horseshoes and/or having someone constantly doing nails? Did riding daily keep the nail growth worn down? short5 wrote in post #9785716 Well first off I imagine they had some know how as far as foot care. Also you are correct unshod horses will wear their feet down if they roam as horses naturally do or are ridden regularly. Their horses were tough guys and only the ones with good feet lived. Today we breed horses so much you get guys with not great feet. That is okay if they are shod but they would not make it as an Indian's horse. They also probably only jumped or ran hard if they needed too as well as did not go on paved roads. We use horses now as sport horses and are hard on what may not be ideal hooves. There are very valid arguments for not having shoes. If you can do it and your horses stay sound it is better for them as far as circulation and other factors. I don't know much about "primitive" horsemanship but you got me interested. Not to mention if you're not riding on packed surfaces, like trails, it's easier on the hooves than like nowadays when you're likely to be riding on bridle paths or roads. short5 wrote in post #9786008 Off to the diner. I missed the novel and now I have wonder Post your mind Kit, if someone doesn't like it they can skim. PM or blog it? Hope all is okay.Wool no doubt natives rode hard but like I say I suspect they had horses with great feet but I also bet the majority rode hard as a necessity not as a sport l;ike we do. I could be wrong but considering a good horse was a huge asset you did not want to break they probably used judgment in how they rode. Also a fall could easily be fatal which we do for fun in our modern stupidity but they probably tried to avoid. Likewise, I missed it and am wondering. It's probably something we've been through here though. Like Zane says - nobody's being forced to read it. Jon

He is sleeping by my feet. All of the sudden, he will jump up and do the freak outs. He does this loud, LOUD bay, and kinda runs really fast towards the other end of the room. The first time he did it, it freaked everyone out. People, dogs, cats... everyone. There was mayhem. ![]() Now, when he does it, the dogs dont even bat an eye. In fact, when he did it tonight, all the dogs stayed asleep. LOL When Wally is in the house, because he isn't housebroken yet, and because of his sleeping freak outs, I keep him on a long leash, next to me. That works really well when I'm working on the computer or whatever. Tonight I was watching a movie, so I had Wally on a leash, and he was sleeping next to me. I attached his leash to the leg of the coffee table rather than holding it. Bad idea. He did his jump up freak out thing, and almost knocked my laptop to the floor. He did tip over a full glass of wine onto the floor, and dragged the coffee table halfway across the living room. LOL Now I want another glass of wine, and I'm OUT. Gee. Thanks Wally. *considers licking the floor* *quickly dismisses the idea* Poor Wally. Sorry about your wine Cat. cfpackerfan wrote in post #9780151 We have a 'four on the floor' rule in our house. Dogs do NOT get attention or love or anything unless all 4 feet are on the floor. It works great for us, and our dogs (including the fosters) don't jump up on US. Company is a different story. For some reason, they think that they can maul company when they come through the door. SO... I'm putting a sign on my front door that says: We are rehabilitating dogs here. They will be excited to see you. We strongly enforce a 'four on the floor' rule. If my dogs jump on you, PLEASE ignore them. Only pay attention to them and pet them if all four feet are on the floor. Thank you. ![]() You think that'll work? It should. If not point to the sign as a reminder. Beautiful Mom and baby. Robert - you and Mari did good. cfpackerfan wrote in post #9785485 Dakota just got adopted and is on his way home! The bottom line is that I was answering Lisa's question, and yes, we've had to make that ultimate decision before. But not after exhausting all possible options, and knowing that sometimes ending a life is a mercy. Cat, for those of us that know you, we know that the decision to end a life is not a decision you or your board make lightly, and would not hold it against you. Sometimes that is more of a mercy for the dog than being fostered and adopted. Heather
