Ok, I knew newspapers were feeling the effects of the economy, but now they're going to new heights to draw in customers. I went out to get our paper this morning and it seems they are now including breakfast with the paper. The paper was in a bag containing three single serving boxes of cereal...

I also sometimes wonder where the editor's heads are at... I opened up the paper and the biggest headline, along with a picture, is about an elephant carrying the groom in an Indian wedding parading through the streets of downtown... Right next to it, in much smaller type, is a story about hiring and jobs. Of course, there is really nothing earth-shaking about an elephant wandering through downtown. After all, this is Southern California...

Morning. No noticeable difference today. I certainly hope she sees something on Monday.

what's the "mode selection" again? (can't believe I can't remember)

Bummer! I hope so too!

M, Tv, Av, P, etc. via pressing a button and then using the Main Dial instead of that easily-bumped free-standing knob . . .

The cereal along with the paper is most likely an advertising partnership with the makers of the cereal. As you are already a customer, the paper would be identifying the cereal as 'customer appreciation' and taking the credit for it otherwise.
There are many markets that distribute actual products with the paper in advertising partnerships.
As far as the story choice, perhaps the editors thought an interesting human-interest story as the headline would be more enjoyable to the readers who have been blasted with negative news daily for the last couple of years. The letters-to-the editor are read regularly, and sometimes story choices are based on public request/opinion.

:lol: I settled on it yesterday afternoon, but I wanted to have her "coming out" party with a new pic. And I was at a banquet and didn't get home until late. They were both tired (as was I) and pics weren't happening. I took this one a few minutes ago.

I have missed the backstory on this help please sir.

Neil, I rescued this 18 month old lab last Friday. She'd never been to the vet. Is in heat (although we're through the "worst" of it, if you know what I mean). She lived most of her life in a crate.

I recently found out that they had chained her to a tree when she was a pup and she broke her leg. Again, no vet care whatsoever. I had her to the vet first thing last Saturday. She's had her first round of shots and is scheduled for surgery.

My commitment to her was to rescue her from that horrible situation - and then go from there. I recently came to realize that she is here forever. And it's a wonderful thing. :D

Chris - great news on Grace's new name. Again, I am sorry about how she was treated as a youngster. Does the vet need to fix her leg in addition to getting spade or did the leg heal properly on its own?
