Beautiful! It encourages me to try and resist the urge to always get the "whole" flower in the frame. I really like this perspective.

You clearly know what you're looking after, and have developed a distinctive graphical style. I like how you spend time on getting most out of a seemingly simple object.

Something you could pay more attention to are slanted lines (e.g. http://public.fotki.com …_that/outdoor_cafe_2.html (external link) seems like the house is falling to the left and http://public.fotki.com …hat/ladder_to_heaven.html (external link) which would work better either straight or otherwise _much more slanted).

You have good stuff there. Let's have some more! :)

Thanks Pekka. I appreciate the feedback. The suggestions you offered are very helpful - always welcome critisism especially when it helps me. I enjoy looking at things from a different perspective. This helps when you can't be at the "perfect" photo location all the time. I will post some more.

Here is a new one:

John,
Really nice work. WOW! If these are your first, I can't wait to see more when you get more experienced with this camera. Keep up the good work!! Keep them coming too!!

Holy smokes, John! I don't see how the butterfly/zinnia picture could be any better. Unless, of course, the butterfly was playing the violin ;-)a

P.S. The blue flower picture is now my desktop wallpaper. Your pictures suck :D

I could find nothing at fault on the first one, but the butterfly looks a tad bit over-exposed. There doesn't seem to be enough shadow contrast for it to be a design element.

Otherwise it looks really good. I like the use of color in the background. I don't know if you planned it that way, or it was accidental, but a lot of macro shots have terrible backgrounds because most people don't focus on the background, so it gets ignored. But a good macro background, is like a frame around a subject. It should offer pleasing contrast. Here there is not only color, but texture.
