Maybe your lens AF motor too slow, it's not an USM. Other guy shoot with which lens? I send back mine too becsause it was very soft 80% of the time with a 300mm f2.8 IS lens ant tc 1.4 on small subject like bird but OK on bigger subject like ca (scratch my head ???)r. So-So with the 24-105mm f4 IS.

this is also a very good point. it is well known that the tamron 70-200 2.8's motor is the worst out of all of the 70-200 variations but yet is the sharpest lol
