anyone know where I can get some cleaning swabs that are q-tip shaped? I have a sensor loupe, just got it a week ago actually and it came with a sensor pen. The sensor pen seems to push crap around in there and not really lift it. I have the full copper hill wet kit, but the problem is the spatula doesn't really fit in there with the loupe over the top. So I can see the dust, but I want something moist/sticky that can pick up the specific specs, NOT sweep the entire thing. And yes, I have a rocket air and a dustaide and they're not working, this needs to be a wet solution IMHO.

I'm half tempted to wrap a pecpad around an actual q-tip, but there has to be a better solution out there....

This is what I used for my 20D (LINK (external link))

Type 2 is for XXd crop sensors. Type 3 seems to be the correct size for full frame sensors.

I used this on my 20D about a month or so ago, the first wet cleaning I had done in the 4 years that I've had the 20D, the difference was night/day. It took me 2 swabs to get it really clean. I have a feeling if I stay on top of it, 1 swab will do in the future.

yeah, but that's no different than what I use now, I just wrap a tool myself with pec pads, but it's the same shape. I need something much finer in it's shape.

What if you took one of those "paddles" and split it in 3rd's or 4'ters. Might be hard to do since they are a rigid plastic.

A pencil with an eraser head, wrapped with a pad ?

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

Just curious about why you want something smaller? It seems like it makes more sense to me to have a wide flat surface the same width as the sensor, that way the cleaning and the pressure applied is even throughout.

If you are looking for something to grab individual "specs", I think there are probably better tools, like SpeckGrabberPro.

BTW, the SensorLoupe is awesome. A guy I know at the local camera shop demoed one for me, I was mighty impressed. I don't clean my sensors enough to have one yet, but it'll probably be a good thing to throw on my list sooner or later.

I think you could only half one though, as they're tapered and you'd lose the handle otherwise?

yeah, my other similar thought is wrapping a q-tip with a pec pad. ;)

that's how I've always done it. The problem is you end up pushing some of the dust around instead of lifting it. Now that I have the sensor loupe I can see the individual specs, so why push them if I can find a way to just lift each individual spot?

whoa, cool, that looks like it might be EXACTLY what I'm after, thanks!

Visible Dust stuff all the way for me, take a look at their corner swabs, might be what you're looking for.
