Following on from my "home made snoot thread" here --> snoot-a-licious!
I had a few minutes yesterday before a massive lightening shower to try out the snoot on a live subject or two.

So, here's my first "real" use of my giant snoot:
EXIF
ISO100
EF100mm macro plus Kenko extension tubes totalling 68mm
f/5.6
1/125s
flash on manual - full power

The fly was wandering all over the place due to me trying to take it's picture...but it was very windy so I think it wasn't too worried about me grabbing the stem of the flower it was on to keep it a bit steadier.

I shot in RAW, cropped a bit, and would say this shot is about 3:1.

I've another shot to stack of a much smaller insect, but that'll take some time this morning....

Are you using a diffuser on the end? I'm also wondering where the color is coming from. Otherwise it's a nice shot.

Yep, using a plain white diffuser....and what colour do you mean? If it's the red, that's the flower petals the fly was sitting in.

Yes, the red. It seems to have bled into the fly. :)

Help me out here Mitch, as I'm going out now to catch some more while the sun's shining.
Where are you seeing any colour over-lap?
On my screen - and having taken the picture - I know I'm seeing plenty of reflected colour on the fly, but I can't see colour bleeding.
If there's an error somewhere, I don't want to repeat it. And since this is a single frame processed in LightRoom, I can't think how any colour could have bled...

No, it's reflected color, but it's something I haven't seen before in other macro shots.

It could be because the petal rolled over the fly, top-right, out of frame. Thus some of the flash came through it...
