Just got back from another brief outing, so here are two more direct from the session, and I've another set to stack which I think were a real find!
More on that later...

So, here's a young fly about to leap into the unknown, and a slightly bigger one giving me the evil-eye!!!

Again, using my giant snoot so I could shoot at ISO100, 1/125s, f/5.6 fully manual, with flash at full power.

Good ones - light looks very well diffused but just wondering about the flash angle as the side nearest the lens does not look well lit ?
Ah- just remembered the light is above the lens :)

Thanks for the comments Brian.
The forecast for tomorrow is heavy rain, but when it clears up I'm thinking of taking a couple of reflectors with me (ie, some white cardboard!) and putting it on the left and right to get full-round cover.
Do you think that will brighten the images enough?
Also, I'm still shooting at ISO100, so as I get more of a "feel" for this snoot business, I've plenty of leeway to up the ISO, change the aperture and/or exposure.

Nice detail in the eyes in the second pic. I'll go back and check your original snoot thread as maybe I can start working on making one to occupy me until I have enough $$$ for a 100mm macro...

Making a home-made snoot? Can't recommend it enough!!! :D
And we've some more sun this morning (even though they said "rain" yesterday!), so I might dash out around 10am to catch something else - expect some more from "Sky-Snoot" soon!!!!
;)
