I always find myself putting on lens cap especially in countries I traveled that are dryer and windy even in my shooting bag. For decades I have been putting up with canon lens cap because with a hood on it, you almost have no way to take out. The only time the lens cap works is when you are storing your lens with hood inverted.

I just find nikon and sony caps as well as other 3rd party lens maker cap better because you can pinch at the centre and still get your caps in and out with a hood on.

You can always replace the Canon ones with 3rd party ones. Check on Ebay... they are inexpensive.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

Yeppirs. That's what I did. Bought several in the pack with the body cap and rear lens cap. Front lens caps are available also.

Sigma do centre pinch lens caps for all bar their 52mm dia lenses and they dont seem too expensive.

All my lenses except the 300 2.8 have Tamron center-pinch caps.
