Does anybody know if this applies to all 5D bodies or later serial # (370xxxx) don't need to do this? I was trying to remember when canon actually released that service notice? Thanks a lot.

I dont know about the recall, but in a recent thread a user called canon and confirmed that they will reinforce the mirror if you send it in. Its a free repair, as is fixing the mirror if it breaks. I recently picked up a used 5D and will probably shoot with it until there is a problem.

You can look at the mirror and see if there are plastic rails on the sides to hold it down. If you go to the Canon website, the picture they show has the reinforcements so if your camera lacks those hten you can send it in. But I do believe later serial numbers were fixed from the factory. I think it was models with serial numbers starting with 2 and 3.

3 series also needed the fix. I had a 3nnnn and it was on the recall list.

I think it was only ones made in the last coule of months that were ok.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
