Does not make sense using a modeling light when using a powerpack. To be honest most of the time I shoot outdoors I only shoot using 1 light (just twice i have used 2 lights... is hard to be carrying a lot of gear to a remote location). Secondly, I normally shoot when the sun is out; only once have I used strobes without any sun and that time I did use the modeling light at the lowest setting to help me out with the auto focus (I had zero issues with the powerpack but I do realize the battery was getting drained at a quick pace).

Hey Rafael,

You're forgetting about people that shoot on location but indoors where they either don't have power or they don't want the long cord running to where they do have power. I wouldn't leave the modeling lights on all the time but I certainly would use them.

True...I have been in that situation myself. Yeah, I would not leave the modelling lights on too long unless you want your battery drained quickly.

Nowadays I shoot Nikon, but deep inside I am still a Canon lover... plus Nikonians don't have a cool place to hang like POTN :)

I have to go back and look at my test results that I had done with the 600RX's and modeling lights. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the number of pops I got and as long as you don't leave the modeling lights on for long periods of time you're fine.
