I had the chance to shoot with a fellow POTN member, Dimitri_V on my way back to the US just over a week ago, after spending a few weeks in Europe on a business trip.

5D Mark II w/ 24-70mm
35mm
f/13
ISO 50
90 sec

A 3 stop ND was used for the whole scene to blur the water, as well as a 3 stop graduated ND for the sky.

C&C welcome.

Very nice, great dynamic range, is that an HDR image?

I like it, but if seems a touch dark for my taste. Still very pretty.

Nice work! I would punch up the WB a tad to give it a warmer feeling.

It is not an HDR image. This is the effect you get when you use filters - you are able to balance the image and take one shot, still capturing all the detail.

And that is fine - I can see how you would like it to be a bit brighter - but this is what I was going for honestly. I took several shots. I do have one that is brighter that you may like more.

What part are you wanting to warm up? If I go any further, the white of the lighthouse will not stay white unless I mask it - and I am not all about the oversaturated warm look. Again, we each have our own tastes and this is precisely what I have been wanting to do for years. Scotland is an amazing place and I'd love to go back soon!

It's not about oversaturating it. To me it looks like it needs more oomph but, you can keep it how you like it. It's what you prefer really. :)

Okay well maybe I will play with it a bit more before printing it. This is why I post... I'm not trying to defend myself whenever someone makes a suggestion - I was just wondering why the need for more warmth.

Beautiful ! This is the kind of shot I'll be looking to take on an upcoming trip to the Mayan Riviera (Mexico). Thank you for sharing your setup as well. It's very helpful as I'll have a much better sense of where to start for my (hopeful) shorescapes.

Beautiful. Great color and the water is wonderful.

- I discovered I scream the same way whether I'm about to be devoured by a great white shark or if a piece of seaweed touches my foot.
